A perfect rainy Saturday to create 😉 . Freshly Made Sketches has the perfect Sketch #250 along with CAS Colours & Sketches #187 gorgeous trio of colours (Flirty Flamingo, Chocolate Chip & Sweet Sugarplum). Got the coarse modelling paste out to make a textured background. Then I took out some watercolour paper and white embossed a rose cover-a-card stamp. Adding the two pinkish tones I painted the flowers, love this combination! A piece of rose tinted vellum for the leaves were fixed with a white eyelet to the water colour paper along with white rose die-cuts. A chocolate chip card stock was used to cut out the word die “spécial” (special) …sorry about the rainy day lighting which makes it look like dark chocolate :p
That’s my take on these two inspiring challenge blogs, my happy place.
Have a great week-end, & happy card making 😀
Bonnie Klass and Loll Thompson, have HONOURED me to be a guest on the CAS Mix Up Challenge. Their challenges leave so much room for fun and creativity. Why not give it a try?
The challenge for the month of August is:
STAMPING + SPRAYS + YOUR CHOICE
Here’s some inspiration. Again I stencilled, applying glass beads texture gel medium, over watercolour paper and letting it dry. I sprayed Dylusions spray inks (After Midnight & Crushed Grape) to imitate the night sky. A little salt was added to give me tiny white specs for the stars far away. To my surprise, the glass beads did not resist the colours, but hey, even if stars don’t glow, let’s go with the flow. I framed a rectangle piece of this spray painted paper with SSS Woodland Rectangular Frame die in silver paper. The moon was cut using five layers of vellum and attached together with a yellow eyelet. With silver color bead string, a few beads, stars and sequins were tied through the eyelet and the ends knotted (I call this, card jewerly 😉 ). The yellow moon was glued with Glossy Accents onto a circle of white vellum stamped “Fais un voeux” (Make a wish) hence the title of this post. All pieces were assembled and VOILA, the card is finished.
As mentioned, sometimes it works and sometimes not, but that’s the fun with the CAS Mix Up Challenges, the outcomes are surprising. LOVE IT! Hope you get inspired, thanks for stopping by 😀
TIME OUT Challenge #63 theme is ‘Holidays with the Optional Twist of No Stamping’! Using CAS(E) this Sketch #185, which I rotated 180 degrees, I opted for Gold and White to create this card. A white vellum strip and gold strip of paper were torn and fasten with two gold eyelets to the white 5,5″ x 4,25″ card stock. Several star die-cuts were created in Gold foiled, Gold glittered and White glittered papers. These were threaded through a Gold wire along with white & gold beads and fastened at the upper and lower eyelets. A NOËL die-cut in Gold foiled paper was pasted at the midsection and the card was done 😀
Thanks for stopping by, hugs Jo
Week #289 on “Less is More” is a one layer card with the theme something French 😉 Using ARCHES, 140 lb Hot Pressed paper I framed the contour with washi tape. I stamped Penny Black’s Orchid Gentle Whisper stamp and “Juste un petit Bonjour” (Just saying Hello) with Versamark ink and heat embossed with WOW Silver Pearl powder. I then smooshed with 3 Zig Clean color brushes using an acetate. One layer!
Thanks for stopping by, hugs Jo
A 180 degree rotation of Bev’s Sketch Challenge #186 on CAS Colours & Sketches and the inspiration began. Lotsa die cuts layered to create the focal point. Quick and fun 😀
Dies: Spellbinders oval dies; Paper Smooches Dainty Flowers 2 Dies & Rose Dies for the leaf; MFT leaf dies & butterfly; Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder; Pearl; Word die “précieux” (precious); Simon Says Stamps frame die; Wplus9 LOVE NOTES Designer Dies
Paper: white 110 lb card stock and white over yellow vellum
Sometimes I just can’t stop myself and I add more than the challenge requires and do this LOL. It still remains that the CAS Colours & Sketch #186 INSPIRED it all 😀
A great sketch by Kim from Freshly Made Sketches (#249) with ColourQ’s challenge #354
got me going YAY! I sliced Cool Caribbean card stock in two separate sections to create the background. Then I pass the vertical rectangle of white card stock several times with one of Memory Box’s Distressed Windham craft die and adhered this atop. Tearing a strip of vellum I stamped in Basic Black “Prendre le temps” (Take Time) and finished it with a Sizzix’s Scribble Heart in Basic Grey card stock. Clean and simple.
Have a great mid-week and happy card making. Thanks for stopping by 😀
The Less is More Challenge #288 is a Colour Challenge and Blue & Brown has been chosen. So Sketch #184 from CAS(E) this Sketch was perfect 😉
I splashed different watercolour blues onto Bristol paper adding Pearl Ex for some shine. I added MFT’s Homespun Stitch Lines on the sides, used Papersmoothes’ Birds Dies (3 small and 1 large bird in white card stock) lined up vertically, and added “Bonne Fête” (Happy Birthday) in brown glitter card stock. Finally, a couple of glitter notes were pasted and the card was complete. Have a great week, thanks for stopping by 😀
