CAS Mix Up April Reminder

A Spring card for a Spring Birthday 😉  capture-decran-2017-02-04-a-20-18-00Welcome back to the CAS Mix Up reminder, there is still time to play along with us.

For this card I used a birthday word die “joyeux anniversaire” on lawn fawn’s PERFECTLY PLAID 6 x 6 paper pack that I had been hording, I’m a real paper junkie.  The colours in this series are just beautiful, so out it finally came!  I grabbed a piece of 110lb card stock and cut the word die again, but before taking the die out, I added a strip of painters tape so that I could easily, but carefully, pull out the words and keep all the negative pieces in place.  Yay, the inlay die-cutting worked 😛  Then I took out IO’s cover a card Dotted Argyle and stamped this whole piece with Versamark for the heat embossed sparkle embossing powder.  I liked the festive undertone.  Birthday Balloons are often a must, so I die-cut three vellum pieces in yellow, pink and blue.  Sparkly yellow thread was tied to each balloon and adhered to my card.

CAS(E) this Sketch #217

Capture d_écran 2017-04-13 à 12.32.07This is a one layer card for CAS(E) this Sketch #217.  I’ve been using my dies a lot lately to create stencils and that’s exactly what I did for this card for sponging the bottom border. I also used the Crafter’s Workshop flying Garden 6×6 template.  Memento inks were used in the colours of Dandelion, Angel Pink and Lilac Posies.   “Joyeux Anniversaire” (Happy Birthday) was stamped with these shades and then all the coloured parts of the card were heat embossed with a clear glitz powder to give some pop…hard to see on the photo 😉

That’s my card for today, thanks for stopping by, HUGz JoannaIMG_1662

Color Throwdown #438

Capture d_écran 2017-04-12 à 16.06.18Just waiting for the warm weather to arrive, so I made a blossom card for Color Throwdown’s #438 Challenge ->  coral, yellow, leaf green and white 😀

I die cut Memory Box’s Lorelai Leaf Outline Die to create a stencil thus allowing me to leaf green colour the light modelling paste and applying it to my card base.  A Sizzix wild flower die in Bristol paper was tinted here and there with Coral Zig Clean Brushes.  A tiny IO butterfly was die cut 3 times in yellow vellum and tied together with thread.  Yellow watercolour splatters were added before adhering all the die cuts.  “Je pense à Toi” (Thinking of You) was stamped in black Versafine ink.  That’s my card for today 😉  Thanks for stopping by, HUGz, JoannaIMG_1659

SSS Wed. Challenge 8th Birthday

Capture d_écran 2017-04-06 à 12.18.12The Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is celebrating it’s 8th Birthday.  A birthday theme featuring SSS products, so I used the SSS Fresh Daisies die as a stencil to first apply embossing paste onto my white card base.  Using the same card stock, I then cut a rounded MFT rectangle as a center panel to which I die cut again using SSS Quadrangle frames die.  This created a window for my embossing paste flowers to be seen.  The IMG_1621frame, the daisies and IO’s Happy Birthday word dies were cut out of Bristol paper.  The flowers were painted using Tombow Brushes #158 & #772 and then clear heat embossed twice.  The frame and word die cuts were silver heat embossed twice.  The silver frame was then inlaid within the small rectangle, tucking the watercolored daisies within this aperture.  Silver thread was added and the “Happy Birthday” was adhered.  A little coral Liquid Pearls were added for interest and the card was done.   HAPPY BIRTHDAY SSS 😀

Freshly Made Sketches #282

Capture d_écran 2017-04-05 à 14.02.16Such a fun sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches #282 created by Cécile Ribon. Using textured aqua card stock I began by cutting squares and frames.  Each square has die cuts from the Happy Day 6 x 6 My Mind’s Eye paper pad.  The dies used are from MFT for the scalloped frame die and heart banner, Papersmooches for the birdie and the flower is from Sue Wilson’s “String Flowers”.  The word die “Merci” (Thanks) is from the Frantic Stamper.  A little liquid Pearls for the flower and banner 😉

Hope you enjoy, thanks for stopping by, HUGz, JoannaIMG_1616

CAS Colours & Sketches #217

Capture d_écran 2017-04-04 à 10.27.48Pear Pizzazz, So Saffron & Wisteria Wonder are the Colours on this week’s CAS Colours & Sketches #217.

My grandson will be one in May YAY!  So I die cut a Tattered Lace’s Teddy die (D207) in Bristol paper and I watercoloured him in So Saffron and Wisteria Wonder.  A MFT frame die was cut in Pear Pizzazz pattern card stock.  Before adding these two die cuts I had stencilled Tim Holtz dots with embossing paste to which I added Clear Rock Candy Glitter from Ranger.  A heart die was tucked under an arm and “Bonne Fête” (Happy Birthday) was stamped just under the frame.  All the die cuts were clear heat embossed twice.

Mojo Monday #491

Capture d_écran 2017-04-03 à 14.12.00Our adorable niece turns 30 this Saturday, so I used Julee Tilman’s Mojo Monday Sketch #491 for inspiration.  I stamped, Versamark, MFT’s Roses All Over BG stamp onto a piece of white card stock.  I added Zig Clean Colour Brushes in yellow and red to the center of each rose using a water brush.  Then a rectangle of vellum was stamped with MFT Grid BG stamp and heat embossed with clear silver.  A Papersmooches rose die was painted in the same colours as the BG stamp, then heat embossed with the same clear silver embossing powder.  A strip of red/yellow/pink vellum was used for the banner and stamped with “Bonne Fête” (Happy Birthday) using Versamark and white embossing powder.

That’s my card for today, have great week and thanks for stopping by, HUGz, JoannaIMG_1611 2

Birthday Elephant

Three Pastel colours (Less is More #322) & no dies (CAS-ual Fridays #170) were my challenge for the CAS(E) this Sketch #215! I stamped an elephant duo in Versamark and silver heat embossed my image.  I coloured using grey and a touch of pink in Clean Color Brushes to give a splotchy look.  Using the same pink, I coloured light modelling paste and stenciled using a heart shape of hearts.  Black & White Enamel Accents were used to embellish the eyes and the tusk.  Then I tore a white Vellum strip, silver heat embossed “Bonne fête” (Happy Birthday) AND using the third colour, lime green, I stamped the grass strip on the underside of the vellum.  That’s my card for today, have a terrific WEEKEND 😀

April CAS Mix Up Challenge

Welcome to our April CAS Mix Up Challenge. This month it’s capture-decran-2017-02-04-a-20-18-00stamping + inlaid die-cutting and your choice.  I’ve got smooshing left overs from Loll’s March Challenge, so I decided to use one made with IZINKS acrylic pigment ink for this card.  I grabbed the Penny Black Framed Fern die-cut it out twice, once on white card stock and once on my green smooshed piece.  All was paper pieced together for the inlay, but certain pieces were taken from the white die-cut fern.  Yup, I omitted the bottom left corner so that I may stamp and clear heat emboss “Amitié” (friendship) in black Versamark ink on my white card base.  A tiny butterfly was die-cut X 3 out of white vellum and attached together using shimmery green thread.

Now, do go over to see what great designs our creative team came up with so you can join us in our awesome gallery.  Can’t wait to see your scrumptious cards.  Thanks for stopping by, happy card making, HUGz joanna-cmu-signatureimg_1444
