Welcome back to our CAS Mix Up Challenge 😀 This month we’re having fun with Felt, Cork OR Canvas.
To start, I applied Gesso onto a piece of canvas given to me by my dear friend Bonnie. This added some tooth to the postage die cut piece so that I could stamp the Hampton artistamp “novel background” in Versafine Sepia Ink. The girl die cut (AliExpress) in 140lb watercolour paper was painted, clear heat embossed and glued onto the bottom right section previous painted with burnt siena to ground her. A wood heart was added all for the love of reading. This was adhered on-top of a piece of teal cork background die cut (Papersooches) over the white card base.
There’s lots of inspiration from the design team, from our special guest Marianne, PLUS Videos for tips and tricks. Hope you’ll join us!
Bonnie and Loll are launching a brand NEW challenge which will be starting March 3rd. The new CAS Christmas Card Challenge or CCCC will be the place to visit next month and have more fun in the card world.
Thanks for stopping by,
Here’s another card, painting the cork …again a Papersmooches flower die. A pink felt heart over the “Amitiés” stamp (friendship).
And finally, one using cork and felt. The back ground and stamped leaf is with Orange Brusho and then clear embossing several times with the “water bead” stamp from Deep Red. I entered this card for the Inspirational Challenge #154 “Aperture“.
Can’t wait to see you in our gallery 😀
A trio of lovely cards, Joanna! Your third, with the cork and felt, is sooooo pretty! A clever, delightful take on ‘aperture’; thrilled to see you in the Inkspirational gallery!

All three cards are fabulous for the challenge, Joanna! The script stamped background is perfect for the little girl die-cut (reading a book). The clear heat-embossing over the watercolor gives a great shiny look to the girl. I’ve never painted cork, but your second card really inspired me to try. I love the color and texture contrast of your 3rd card – the Brusho orange background and the the blue felt birds. The clear embossed water beads are a nice finishing touch too. Thank you for hosting a fun challenge this month! Hideko xx

Three wonderful cards, Joanna! Love those vibrant colours and the combination of felt and cork in the bird one! But, having been a librarian my whole working career, including many years as a children’s librarian, I have to say my favourite is the first one. The image of the little girl reading is so precious, and perfect set against the background of words. Also love the teal die cut cork background.

Wow, Joanna, not one but three gorgeous cards using the cork, felt and canvas! I love your girl who loves to read! And the die cut cork background adds so much dimension and texture! The cork flower is beautiful with the difference in colors that add such depth! Love the contrast with the tiny felt heart! The little felt birds are so beautiful on the cork branch against the gorgeous orange background! Thanks for such a fun challenge, my dear friend!

Three fantastic cards Joanna!! The teal painted cork background on your first card is so beautiful. I have not tried painting cork yet … now on my “to-do” list! 🙂 Love that cute little girl reading her book. Perfect with the text stamp and the sweet wooden heart. Another adorable card with your painted cork flower. And your last card is such a wonderful mix of colours. The water beads just shine. And your blue birds are the sweetest!
