Another fun challenge has started at CAS Mix Up: ACETATE 😉  hosted by our talented design team member Susan.  This will be her last challenge at CAS Mix Up since she’ll be moving to the new CAS Christmas Card Challenge.  She will be missed but will definitely be a creative addition to this new monthly challenge.  We are excited to welcome the fabulous Mac from the Sweetest of Peas, our new addition to the DT family!

OK, back to ACETATE + Stamping + Your Choice.  I began mixing Alcohol inks and AI blending solution onto a piece of acetate.  The gold mixative along with the red and yellow gave me quite an interesting piece.  To seal the AIs, I sprayed with Krylon Clear Glaze (Triple-Thick Crystal).  Once dry, I trimmed two squares with my paper trimmer and the other with deckled edge scissors.  On the first card I added red and white die cuts and to the second I framed it onto a piece of Japanese paper and added a tiny heart die cut, gold heat embossed twice with two different powders.  The sentiments “Du fond du coeur” (from the bottom of my heart) was stamped directly onto the opposite side of the acetate with StazOn opaque Cotton White, while the second card was stamped onto the card base and heat embossed in gold “La vie est si belle” (Life is so beautiful).

Lots of great videos to give you a great variation on the use of acetate, plus scrumptious inspiration can be found by our creative design team.  Can’t wait to see you in our gallery, thanks so much for stopping by, HUGz

  1. What a beautiful piece of acetate, my friend! Love, love, love these colors and the red and white die cuts in contrast! A beautiful collage! I also love the simplicity of the single gold heart on the acetate! Your beautiful Japanese paper adds lovely texture!

  2. Wow, these are gorgeous cards, Joanna! They remind me of Japanese kimono. (And you used “washi” Japanese paper). The combination and the layout of the die-cuts against the AI acetate square are just perfect. The tiny gold heart and the gold heat-embossed sentiment echoes the AI square. Hideko xx

  4. Thank you for your kind comments about me leaving CMU, Joanna! I’ll still be making cards for it each month and still be getting inspired by your creativity! Speaking of which, I love your two cards! Wonderful vibrant colours from the AIs on the acetate! The first card is an amazing combination of elements, so artfully arranged, and the second card has the most perfect embellishment in that sweet little embossed heart! It’s been a pleasure being on the CMU team with you!

    • I truly appreciated all of your precious encouraging words. Thank you Susan for welcoming me into the tribe. Like the French Expressions says “Ce n’est qu’un AU RE-VOIR” …it’s only until the next time we SEE each other. Warm hugs xxx

  5. Two beautiful designs with your vibrant red/golds of the AI’s Joanna – the layered die cuts are so pretty on the first one – and the simplicity of the white Japanese paper behind the 2nd square is lovely! Julia xx

  7. Beautiful creations Joanna. Love how that Triple Thick glaze seals your AIs on acetate and creates a thick, glossy finish. Looks like glass. Always admire your layering of elements. xx
