We’re playing around with the Rubber Band Technique at the CAS Mix Up April Challenge.
For this card I used an acrylic block wrapped with rubber bands and stamped onto my piece of card stock, previously masked off, using Versamark, so I could clear heat embossed the exposed area. Then, with the mask still in place, I proceeded to ink blend green and blue Distress Oxide Inks. The little fishes die cuts, from Impression Obsession, were heat embossed with 2 different embossing powders of green and blue. I threaded them with green twine and attached them through two green eyelets positioned at the opposite corners of the background. “Bonne fête Papa” (Happy Birthday Dad) was stamped with Versafine Black Ink and clear heat embossed to prevent the ink from smearing off the already clear embossed areas.
Don’t forget to take a look at all the inspiration from our Design Team including technical videos. The Challenge ends on the 24th, so you still have time to play 😀 Thanks so much for stopping by, HUGz

This is so pretty and very clever to have the string of fish as you’ve done the design. The rubber band background was perfect to show off this fine catch. Loved the little eyelet details too. Thanks for the sweet comment at my blog. TFS

The heat-embossed rubber band lines and the Distress Oxide Inked lines make a dynamic background for the fish, Joanna! I love that you threaded the heat-embossed fish with the twine and used the eyelets to hold it at the corner. Such a cool design! Hideko xx
