Kim’s Sketch

A Birthday card for Kim’s Freshly Made Sketch # 347.  The Concord & 9th butterfly die cut was lined with white vellum, a little Liquid Pearls and aqua glitter for the body and, finally, some Wink of Stella for the wings.  The pink vellum square was dry embossed with an Alexandra Renke Level Curves folder and the “Bonne Fête” (Happy Birthday) word die was cut in pink glitter paper.

Prendre le temps de dire..

Capture d_écran 2018-07-26 à 11.46.27Borni at the Color Throwdown challenge #503 chose the classic colour combo of Red, Green, and Gray.  So I made a stencil from the apple in the Papersmooches School Icons Dies set.  Applying modeling paste on the card base, I cover three of the four with Rock Candy Glitter and the tilted one was covered and heated in red and green embossing powders, adding grey liquid pearls for the stem.  “Prendre le temps de dire” (taking the time to say..) was stamped in grey and clear heat embossed.  A special card for a teacher friend who’s retiring very soon 😀

You’re Fintastic

Capture d_écran 2017-11-07 à 15.30.32The Memory Box Challenge #39 is the Surf & Turf (nautical, beach, etc.) theme.  For my card, I wanted my fish to be the main focus, so I basically added different shades-textures of white so that my NEMO would be the star.  I used puff-embossing powder, silver pearl, white and some iridescent medium.  My orange fish was embellished with Ranger’s liquid enamel accents.  The word die “You’re Fintastic”, cut in black card stock, was clear heat embossed. The dies used are: MEMORY BOX: Seaside Treasures Die; CREATIVE EXPRESSIONS Collection Underwater Accessories Die; and a background die sent to me by good friend, Loll.

Friendship ^..^

Capture d_écran 2018-07-21 à 11.50.15I’m trying One Layer Cards …again!  Capture d_écran 2018-07-21 à 11.49.53These, for ME, are the most challenging.  So I’m doing Cobalt, Aqua & Grey at the Color Throwdown Challenge #502 along with the Stripes theme over at Less is More Challenge #376.  I made stencils out of the Impression Obsession CAT dies and ink blended each cat, along with some masking, onto my card base.  Then I added whiskers to my felines with the Dylusions white linen pen.  Using the homemade stencil, I applied Versamark onto the bodies and clear heat embossed twice.  Grey ink blended stripes with the Tim Holtz Stripes stencil were added to ground my tribe 😉  Finally “Amitié” (Friendship) was stamped in black Versafine Ink and clear heat embossed.  That’s my take for these challenges.

Less is More: #375

Capture d_écran 2018-07-18 à 15.06.38Summer time in the country, watching busy butterflies fluttering in the fields of wild flowers make me “zen”.  That is my inspiration for this Less is More Tangerine and Olive Challenge.  The stencilled flower is embossing paste with glittery EP, heat embossed, before drying, to add dimension.  The butterfly is a die from Memory Box cut out of AI on vellum and olive green card stock.  A little flower soft for the body was also added for texture.

happy birthday tag

Capture d_écran 2018-06-06 à 15.48.31It’s a great die-cut challenge at CAS Mix Up!  There’s still time to play, just colour a die cut, add stamping plus another option from the side bar on the CAS Mix Up blog.  There’s videos and DT cards to inspire you, hop on over to take a peak.

The approach to my two cards are similar.  Molding paste through the negative left by the die cut, add embossing paste and heat dry before the paste dries.  The flower on the first card is coloured with Gansai Tambie Starry Colors in shades of gold and the second with Copics (BG01-23-72).  A vellum tag was stamped with “happy birthday” and attached with sequins, beads and a matching feather.  A Technique Tuesday “Charming Hearts” tag was also added.  Hope you’ll join us, thanks for stopping by, HUGz,

July CAS Mix Up Reminder

Capture d_écran 2018-06-06 à 15.48.31We’re half way through our July challenge at CAS Mix Up, but you still have up to the 24th to play along.  This month we’re colouring our die-cuts + stamping + your choice from the sidebar list.

I placed acrylic paints of coppers and blues onto my gelli plate, to pull off a marble impression on an Alexandra Renke die-cut flower.  I cut it again, so I could take the negative to be used as a stencil.  I placed my homemade stencil onto my card panel and added modelling paste.  Before this dried, I added sapphire EP and proceeded to heat set.  This left me with this bubbly texture.  I adhered my die-cut over this texture and stampedC’est ton jour!” (It’s your day) in Versamark, heat embossing with the same sapphire EP.

Don’t forget to check out the videos and lots of inspiration from our Design Team.  Thanks so much for stopping by, HUGz,

July CAS Mix Up

Capture d_écran 2018-06-06 à 15.48.31Welcome back 😀  The July CAS Mix Up Challenge theme is to “Colour your Die-cuts” + stamping + Your Choice.  For the watercolored poinsettia, I used Penny Blacks Joyful die cut.  I used reds and greens, Daniel Smith paints, and once dry I added a second coat.  Then the flower and stem were clear heat embossed twice.  On the white card base, JOYEUSES FÊTES (Happy Holidays) was stamped and gold heat embossed, plus, a gold heat embossed strip was added to the left side.  A smaller rectangle was cut out of pearly/shimmery card stock and a partial aperture, from Waffle Flower Lacy Layers 2 die, was added to the top right.  Once the whole card assembled, I added gold liquid pearls to the center of the bloom and a few speckles on the card stock.  Some glitter was sprinkled over this before it dried.

CAS Mix Up always add several videos to get you started and lots of inspiration from the Design Team.  Hope you’ll have some fun and join us in our gallery.  Thanks so much for stopping by, HUGz,
