August CAS Mix Up Challenge

Welcome back to a new August challenge at CAS Mix Up!  This month we’re tackling stencils, by using them as a mono print.  If you head on back to the blog you’ll discover lots of inspiration from the talented Design Team along with great videos.

I used a stencil which had a strip of daisies.  I masked the bottom part of my bristol paper by tearing a piece of paper.  Then I sprinkled Brushos of primary colours, spritzed with water to activate and, just like stamping, I placed the stencil to make an imprint on the Bristol paper.  I stamped in red archival ink “just pour toi” (just for you) where the mask was and die-cut with a MFT torn notebook.  Before matting this piece onto red card stock, I got back to using a hot plate and UTEE, (see our June layered embossing technique ).  The card stock became translucent since UTEE got underneath so I applied a coat of gesso to the back side of my piece so that the white sections would remain white.  I used the Penny Black border edgers die for the front bottom of my card base to finish.
