Welcome back to another journey with the CAS Mix Up Challenges. This New Year, 2020, offers many opportunities towards card techniques and designs, may this one fulfill your card world and bring JOY to you and your family. Our very talented Hideko is challenging us to do Partial Die-Cutting. Remember to take a look at the videos on the blog for more inspiration, along with our special guest Tristan and the design team.

For this card, on my white card panel, I used Alexandra Renke’s Magic Poppy and die cut only the top part of the bloom (I had dry embossed before so that I’d know where to heat emboss the raspberry EP on the stem). I framed this white panel onto a navy stitched rectangle die cut. I also die cut the flower part on same navy card stock. Before adhering the partially die cut panel over the matting, I glitz heat embossed the aperture where the bloom would be and the navy petals which I used for leaves. Once matted, I popped the bloom with some foam tape and slightly angled it to the navy base. I also used some foam tape for the petal/leaves. “Sincères Sympathies” (Deepest Sympathy) was also raspberry heat embossed.

Hope you’ll join the design team and our special guest, Tristan, in the CAS Mix Up! Gallery, can’t wait to see your creations. Thanks so much for stopping by, HUGz,

Wonderful design Jo, love the colours, die cutting and heat embossing!

Fantastic design using partial die-cutting for this gorgeous bloom, Joanna! So clever how you de-bossed so you knew where the stem was. The colours are gorgeous with the rose embossing powder and navy paper. xx

What a creative way of using this technique, Joanna! Die-cutting only the bloom and showing the pretty glitz through the die-cut apertures make this CAS card look so interesting and unique. I love your attention and care of coordinating the colors beautifully (Petals & leaves, matte, stems, sentiment).
