OLC – Cheers!

A very good neighbour and friend of mine has her Bday coming up this weekend, so why not a RETRO Cheers! Martini glass? For this I used an old Purple Onion design Mixed Drinks stamp set to start. Some silver and white embossing, a couple of hand drawn lines and then came out the metallic watercolours. A bright OLC pour a special girl 😉 Playing along with the Simply Less is More Challenge #429 “OLC – Cheers” & Taking TIME OUT Challenge #171.

Cheers to another year, stay SAFE all, thank you so much for stopping by, HUGz, Joanna

HB2 Nancy

When you reach 75, your anniversary should be extra special. I met Nancy through the CAS Mix Up Challenge Design Team. She always has the most encouraging words to motivate anyone new and old to this card making world. She’s energetic and Ohhh so very SPECIAL! Happy Birthday dear friend. This bouquet of hearts over a doodled strip is for you. Hope you have the best of days in these crazy times. Thank you for being there.

This card has been inspired by the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #454. and the Inspirational Challenge #222 “DAY”. Stamps and dies from Impression Obsession.

Scribble blooms

When I saw the CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #389 I could only think of a trio of watercolour blooms. So I grabbed the Sizzix Media Marks Thinlits as stems and added some watercolour with an old Concord & 9th Flourish Clear Stamp set. While wet I added some Wow Glitz EP.

Despite this 2020 pandemic craziness, I hope you are taking some time to find your blessings amid the chaos. For me, art heals the soul, thank you so much for stopping by, HUGz, Joanna

Thank you CAS Colours & Sketches for the recognition.

Elephant Day

Ok …so the title got to my childish side, but I fell in love with Cornelia’s cute elephant card and decided I had to play along at the Day of the Month Club #19 Elephant Appreciation Day. This is a Poppystamps Stitched Elephant where I decided to make a shaker “ear” …with a google eye. “Félicitations” is a French word die for “Congratulations”.

Stay SAFE all, Thanks for stopping by, HUGz, Joanna

Playing with the Uniko Studio Anything Goes Challenge #61 and the Color Hues Challenge #2 of Navy and Turquoise. A Navy Silhouette MFT stamp along with a Turquoise Technique Tuesday Stem die complimented by a Turquoise “Merci” word die from Frantic Stampers. The Avery Elle chevron dies were dry embossed and an extra with some AI’s on Triple Thick from Deco art.

Stay SAFE and craft on, thank you so much for stopping by, HUGz, Joanna

Feathered bouquet

Playing along with the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #390 designed by Chrissy Larson. A grey textured card base for the Platinum embossed Circuit grid strip. Some white blooms from Alexandra Renke and Technique Tuesday along with a MFT vellum leaf. Why not a feather too 😉 …and three glass drops to embellish!

Stay SAFE crafty friends, thank you so much for stopping by, HUGz, Joanna

Leaf garden

I love the softness of the Color Throwdown Challenge #611 earthy tones, so I decided to make a leaf bouquet with the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #453 as a base line. These are Memory Box’s Fresh Foliage and Lorelai Leaf Outline dies. The wreath is from Alexandra Renke and the vellum butterfly medallion is again, made with Triple Thick and AIs.

Stay SAFE & take card, thank you so much for stopping by, HUGz, Joanna

September CAS Mix Up Embossing with dies

Over at CAS Mix U, we’re “embossing with dies”. Don’t forget to head over to the blog for more ideas from our special guest, design team and videos.

Many times dry embossing with dies can be ideal for making interesting backgrounds, like used here and here. For this card I used the Pinpoint butterfly trio from Memory Box just because I love all the detail in these little dies. I embellished with the same vellum die cuts, coloured with zigs and then glitz heat embossed. A Memory Box Woodland Branch die cut was added along with some leaf and dots stamping, also heat embossed with glitz EB. Liquid Pearls were added to these flutters.

Thanks for stopping by, can’t wait to see you in our gallery, HUGz,

Door tag

Shaped Card is the challenge over at Christmas Craft Creations, so why not a door tag or wine bottle tag? So using the CAS Colours & Sketches Colour Challenge #388 I made this poinsettia bloom from Tattered Lace dies and adhered it to the Papersmooches wine tag die.

Stay SAFE, …and craft on. Thanks for stopping by, HUGz, Joanna

September CAS Mix Up reminder 2020

Welcome back to our September CAS Mix Up Challenge ” reminder for embossing with dies”. I am your host this month! Don’t forget to head over to the blog for more inspiration from our special guest Mac and the awesome design team, plus some fun videos 😉

For this first card, I inked up the PB Sun Fire die with some leaf green archival ink, before dry embossing. Depending on your die cutting tool, some fine tuning may be necessary before starting. I discovered that my Spellbinders’ Platinum worked best with two embossing mats and the 3D embossing plate. This made it possible to emboss without cutting through the paper. Then out came the colouring pencils, guided by a google search image of an oriental lily. I know the stamens should stem from the middle, but hey I liked the clean colouring. This was partially die cut and adhered to the hot pink backing. Was I nervous, YUP! But it was worth the risk 😀 Clear Nuvo drops were applied to the stamens. The little die cut tag was stamped “Du fond du coeur” and a little heart was added.

For the second card, the PB rose die was inked up with Versafine black and dry embossed. Using my grey colouring pencils I shaded the whole flower. I then clear heat embossed. Many ask me how I clear heat emboss my die embossed cards. All I do is make a stencil of the die with printer paper, line it up with my image and using the Versamark cube, (to stay in control and sometimes using the pen), ink up the sections I want to heat emboss. Finally I stamped an IO French script stamp with grey ink, matted the piece on black linen card stock and I was done.
