Watercolouring a Penny Black blooming garden poppy in yellow and grey for the Color Throwdown Challenge #594 along with the CAS(E) this Sketch #373 Challenge designed an inspired by Donna Mikasa. A PB border strip of rice paper and a Memory Box butterfly trio. A spring bloom for the Memory Box May Flowers challenge #6e.

Have a great Sunday, STAY SAFE, HUGz, Joanna

Bashful LIM

Going dotty over at the “Less is More” OLC Challenge #420. Out came a PB die to make a stencil. Then all it took is ink and made lots of dots. I finished the bloom with some ink blending and then clear heat embossing. Quick and fun.

Hope you are all well in Mind & in Body, take card, HUGz, Joanna

Time Out Challenge “FREE”

So thrilled and honoured to be a guest designer at TIME OUT. The theme is “we challenge you to be FREE! I’ll always remember the “free spirit” felt when my girlfriend and I would go out dancing in the fields, alone with nature, and filling our hearts with positive energy.

This is a quick card. For all my die cuts, I used my gelli plate, and loaded them up with some iridescent medium. The rectangle die cut (Nellie Snellen) was sponged with blue jeans Distress Oxide ink and stamped with MFT’s Flower Silhouettes set. The girls, a die from Spellbinders called “Every day’s is a happy day”, were left naturel along with the Smile word die from Studio Light.

Thank you Sandie and the fabulous TO team for allowing me join in on the fun.

What if…

…this pandemic is here to teach us what is important in our lives. How do we find meaning in all of this scary craziness? Hoping you are finding some kind of peace from within.

Card making is a form of zen meditation for me, I hope this is the same for you. This OLC is a combo of dry embossing a Poppy Stamps Peony Bud given to me by Bonnie, a dear friend. AND heat embossing with Weathered White and White Pearl embossing powders. The card is for the Memory Box Challenge #61 “May Flowers” and a soft white/cream challenge at Less is More #419.

Take care, wishing you peace and wellness, HUGz, Joanna

Cherry Thank you

I saw the enticing photo on the Inspired By Challenge…sweet on you and I had to make a literal version, something I rarely do. I’m also playing along with CAS(E) this Sketch #372 and the CAS Mix Up “Gesso” challenge.

I stamped with some gesso a wood stamp onto mix media paper. Once dry, I applied some Distress stains with the dobber top…remember those? I heat embossed an old spoon from Spellbinders Home Spun Shapeabilities set. The cherry die cuts are modified branches from the Little B Bouquet set, also heat embossed in red and embellished with some Glossy Accents. The vellum leaves are from this same set. The “Merci” (Thank you) die cut is so appropriate right now in this time of gratitude towards essential workers of the Pandemic.

Hope you are all well, both physically and mentally. Thank you “Merci” for stopping by, HUGz, Joanna

May CAS Mix Up Reminder 2020

We’re midway for our Gesso Resist CAS Mix Up Challenge hosted by our talented Loll. Remember to head back to the blog for more inspiration from our special Guest Pooja, the design team and some videos.

I made a die cut stencil with a McCollection feather die and kept both pieces. After dry embossing the feather onto my OLC, I placed the feather and it’s negative so as to sponge some Gesso onto the tiny apertures. Once dry, I left the negative in place and ink blended some Delicata Gold Ink and some Red dye ink. Then, I replaced the positive adding some Versamark (pen), here and there, over certain openings. After heating the tacky embossing powder, some gilded flakes were applied. I also sprinkled some grains of UTEE and heat embossed. Using a gold gel pen, I did some free hand doodling. Finally, I stamped “coucou!” in the same Delicata Gold Ink.

Do join in on the fun! Hoping to see you in our Gallery, HUGz,

Berry Christmas

That’s the theme over at the CAS Christmas Card ChallengeWinter Berries“. My good friend, Bonnie, inspired this card. When I saw the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge, I did like OPRAH -> ” AHA” 😀 Using the Sizzix Holiday Greens dies, I die cut the holly one out of watercolour paper, added colour and then applying some crackle paste. I used the pine die-cut as a stencil and added some sponging on the card base. The white strip is a PB geometric border. The berries were die-cut and clear heated embosses and the card was done.

Thanks for stopping by, STAY SAFE, HUGz Joanna

Blooming Branch

Hello all, I’m still waiting for spring here in the Laurentians … so trying to be patient I brought the blooms inside 😉 Playing today with AAA Cards Game #165, Just Us Girls Challenge #535 and The Paper Players colour Challenge PP490.

For my card panel I partially dry embossed a Sizzix Thinlit (MM#2) and painted white iridescent acrylic over the imprint. I cut 6 Little B flowers in vellum added a heat embossed pearl.

Stay SAFE, hope you are well, HUGz, Joanna

White & Cream

Well this theme, at Less is More Challenge #419, of White & Cream is perfect for Mother’s Day 😀 I die cut 3 of some Little B Bouquet flowers and white pearl heat embossed. Then I made a stencil with the leaves from the same set, added Versamark and some Antique Weathered White coarse embossing powder for the cream theme, onto my white card panel. Liquid Pearls for the stamen and I heat embossed the edge of the card base with the same Antique Weathered White EP.

Happy Mother’s Day to all you Ladies, Stay SAFE, HUGz, Joanna

Thank you DTs at Less is More for the shoutout 😀

Mariposa Azul

Butterflies are magical and I wanted a special Penny Black stamp version to be the focal point. Using the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #432 and the Color Throwdown Challenge #592 palette, I knew this Mariposa would be the star. Using a TCW tiny circle stencil I added some gold modelling paste and sprinkled some Schmincke aqua rich gold pigment to enhance the gold theme. The medium PB butterfly trio was stamped onto vellum with teal pigment ink and glitz heat embossed. Aqua was added to the wings and over the dried embossing paste. Finally, some gray Liquid pearls were added for the antennas and the body.

Stay SAFE & thanks for stopping by, HUGz, Joanna
